Sometimes, the winter months can seem to drag on forever…despite how fast the holidays seem to sneak up on us every year! If you’re anything like us, by the time January arrives, we’re already longing for warm weather, outdoor barbeques, or beach trips. However, while there’s plenty of that to come in this new year, you can still enjoy some fun winter activities with those you love. Here are a few of our favorite things to do!
-
1. Puzzle or Game Nights
Who doesn’t love a game night? Card games, board games, or puzzles with your family can offer a fun solution to the wintertime blues! With some friendly competition and plenty of laughter, a game night is sure to be a big hit.
-
2. Long-Distance Movie Nights
One of the exciting things we learned in 2020 is that everyone you love, even those farther away from you, are only a mouse click away. Of course, nothing beats gathering for a cozy movie by the fireplace. But during these times, it has certainly become easier to watch movies or simply chat and connect with your family and friends online.

3. Roasting Marshmallows
Backyard camping is one of our favorite things. But while the cold weather might put a damper on camping plans, you can still make s’mores outside over a firepit. Because PolyTEAK’s stylish and comfortable Adirondack Chairs are completely waterproof and weather resistant, they can stay outside all season long! Cozy up around the firepit in your Adirondack chairs and enjoy some warm, melty, roasted marshmallow-y goodness.

4. Arts and Crafts
Over the last year, many of us discovered a newfound love of crafts – or rediscovered something we used to love! Creating art and starting Do-It-Yourself projects is a perfect thing to bring the family together during the winter season.
-
5. Cooking Seasonal Recipes
Food certainly has the power to bring people together. And there are plenty of seasonal recipes out there to keep you cozy all winter long. From soups to casseroles to pies, there’s something for everyone. Maybe you can try a new recipe together as a family!
-
6. Baking and Decorating Cookies
Whether it’s the holidays or just any old time, almost everyone loves homemade cookies. Like cooking together, baking cookies can be fun for the whole family. Even if the weather gets frightful, you can get creative and have a cookie decorating contest inside! Add some hot chocolate and you’re all set.

7. Winter Gardening
Your garden still needs you, even in the winter months! Gardening is a great activity to share with others, or just to give yourself some calming alone time. During the winter, you can grow some produce such as lettuce, arugula, mustard, kale, and Swiss chard with cold weather frames or covers. Consider planting winter-blooming plants such as winter hazel, witch hazel, or honeysuckle to brighten up your garden during the cold months. Make sure to prune in the later part of winter as you look forward to spring. Or, if the outdoors is just too cold for you, start an indoor garden instead!
